Throughout his 20+ year career, Mr. Battleson has worked in deal teams as an investment banker, attorney and principal on development projects and existing assets with a value in excess of $2.2 billion. 


Prior to founding Battleson Real Estate Advisors, LLC, Mr. Battleson served in senior and executive origination, asset management, and capital markets roles with Turnstone Group LLC, Hunt Capital Partners, LLC (Capmark / Centerline / Hunt Mortgage assets), and Southeast Capital Companies, with a primary focus on multifamily, condominium, RV and MHC parks, and single-family housing. Earlier in his career, Mark served as: Director of Capital Markets with Alliance Residential Company where he was responsible for the investment and financing activities of the company's East Coast operations; Vice President at Madison Capital Group, LLC, a boutique real estate investment and merchant bank in Miami, where he was responsible for managing investments and financing processes involving debt and equity transactions for condominium and apartment developments, land, and the acquisition of existing apartment projects; and, as Development Manager in the commercial real estate group of Capstone Advisors, Inc., a real estate investment and development firm in San Diego focused on institutional debt and equity investments in residential and retail developments, as well as shopping center and office developments for its own book.


Mr. Battleson began his real estate career representing developers and capital providers as an attorney with Arnall Golden Gregory LLP in Atlanta, structuring and closing multifamily, tax-credit-based equity financings, conventional debt, and real estate sales. In addition to his real estate experience, Mr. Battleson began his finance career with Morgan Stanley & Co., Inc., in its Institutional Securities, Equity Division in New York City, and practiced as a business and insurance litigation attorney for several years in Atlanta.


In providing alternative/consultative services, Mr. Battleson has also wound-down and sold the hard and intellectual property assets of a manufacturing firm in Georgia; was counsel and eCommerce manager with a B2B Internet startup in San Francisco during the dotcom boom; has acted as an expert witness providing damages opinions; and, was a member of a small venture capital fund, Wolverine Venture Fund, placing investments along-side larger firms.
